My Journey

Years ago, I faced the devastating news of being pre-hypertensive and pre-diabetic - and I was still relatively young. My doctor said, "On your next visit, if things haven't changed, I will prescribe you medication". My heart sank. I knew my food choices had been horrendous, filled with easy, quick, and comforting choices and done for the sake of convenience as a working woman on the move to climb the corporate ladder.

I thought, "Wow, this can't be happening..."

I knew I had been wrong, actually flagrant in my choices, careless in my diet and absent from exercise. I took a deep breath and said, "Give me six months to fix this!" Thus the second leg of my health and wellness journey began. I cut the convenience comforts and began preparing my own food and working out.

When I returned to my doctor after 6 months, to her surprise and mine, all of my numbers had come into the better-than-normal range. A light bulb came on and I really began to realize how just changing a few old patterns could lead me to the body, health and life that I wanted. My quest to be whole and healthy was just beginning... with many unexpected twists and turns along the way. Today I am a wellness champion, educator and pursuer of health.

By changing a few old patterns...

  • I gave my kitchen a makeover and learned ways to add more live foods to my diet.
  • I found healthier replacements for all of the foods that I loved.
  • I tricked myself into eating and enjoying more fruits and veggies.

I experienced victory.

  • I lost - and kept off - a significant amount of weight.
  • I am no longer pre-hypertensive or pre-diabetic.
